ENR3809

Extra 3870 North

First freight movement to the Victoria area since late 2001. Here the ENR GP38's are ready to head back to Nanaimo with a single flat car.
During the early to mid diesel era, when there was still a fair bit of traffic (RR)north of Victoria in the Western Communities, the road freight and the switcher would often(or sometimes the RDC's and the switcher) meet at the Langford siding. Langford at one time boasted Semaphore signals. However these were removed as traffic to Victoria declined and the road freight took over all switching duties in Langford. Today there are no freight customers south of Duncan, about 30 miles north of Langford. However, there are two industrial parks that offer rail connections, it's just a matter of getting the railroad to ship their goods.
