At the Rocklin "Helper Spur" on the EB #2 track SP Donner Pass.
The helper spur was just east of flyover-bridge in Rocklin. SP in the 1960s was looking at ways to pay crews less $. At the time, SP had to pay helper crews terminal and switching pay everytime an EB attached a helper loco in Roseville yard. The solution was to create a spur where helper engines would be attached outside of Roseville's yard. Well crews were teed off of losing their pay so the grieved and argued that the spur was still within Rocklin's yard limit and had to be paid extra anyways. So this spur was torn up and SP returned to the practice of placing helpers at Roseville.
