KMC 702

Kennecott Mining Corporation 85 Ton Electric donated to Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. Built by GE in 1928 and donated to BSVR in 1985, info from http://utahrails.net/index.php
Are the good folk at Boone & Scenic Valley RR planning on restoring this fine example of electrified locomotion? Just curious.

Wow. What a weird piece of of equipment. Why was did they need an electric? Undergorund work?

I don't know their plans for the two 85-ton electrics, sounds like they were in service on the line back in the 80's. I'm not the expert on KMC or Kennecott operations, but it looks like they've had quite the variety of motive power over the years.
