It's difficult to ascertain the origin of this locomotive and exact model class, so check the links below for more information. My best guess is this locomotive started out as a UP...
UP/CNW ACe 1995 and CNWs 8701 and 8646 highball through the countryside, passing the Elburn CO-OP. This was most likely my last time seeing the third engine. CNW 8646 was sent to Proviso for it's 92 day inspection, four days after this photo was taken.
CNW C42-8 #8575 and CNW Dash 9 #8701, 2 of the last 3 CNW engines, lead MCBPR through Elmhurst with no other engines in the lash-up, just like the merger never happened,
