Woah... for a moment I'd thought they'd sold her. Nice to see she's fully restored and properly under cover along with the rest of the restored equipment. It'll be nice to see her running as she did when new as well.
Equipment can be run inside directly with a locomotive, a quick phone call to the alarm monitoring company will solve the problem. The building is also equipped with a ventilation system and large ceiling fans. However locomotives will not be started inside the building.
The museum's collection of track maintenance equipment has been used numerous times inside the building as part of the track construction effort.
Nice. I'm really going to have to get back up there one of these days to see what it's like there in person; it's certainly a far cry from twenty years ago, when no one really knew how it was all going to turn out. Looks like it turned out pretty good, IMHO.
The museum's diesels are all looking pretty spiffy.
Just for fun, you could always paint the Kennecott RSD-4 into Milwaukee Road colors. The Milwaukee owned RSD-5's, which to my eyes looked identical to the RSD-4. Doing that would be a way of having a Milwaukee presence at the museum (for educational purposes).
If a visitor complains about the inauthentic paint... well, you could tell them that the unit can be painted back to Kennecott colors any time.
