Well we just finished up an excellent operating session on 6/16. WE ran 28 trains on the D&RGW between Pueblo, CO and Helper, UT. The sessions was set in the summer of 1984 and featured an exact list of trains that ran on the line at the time. Live dispatchers and yardmasters controlled all the action. The session lasted 11 hours and 11 minutes with the longest single runs coming in around 6 hours. Single track and passing sidings does tend to make it a longer day for the crews. One crew assigned to a turn actually ran 11 hours to complete their work.
When we run a session we run a railroad. WE used the D&RGW employee TT in effect at the time to govern all movement as well. Lots of fun for everybody involved.
We are also proud of the fact that we have added a new simulator to our schedule. We are now running sessions for Railworks in additions to MSTS and hope to soon add a third sim to our growing operation.
This week we will run the CSX mainline from Alexandria to Cumberland set in 2008. The route was overhauled to get it close to prototype and is being made available only to our qualified crews running in the sessions this week.
So if you are interested in learning how to run according to prototype rules and being a part of our VORA team, go to http://vrma.proboards.com and open your account today. Next hiring class starts on July 19th and slots are already going as I write this.
If you have any questions, send me a PM right here and I will do my best to get you the information you need.
Thanks for reading,
Nick
