Member PEIR, had asked for some photos of Waste Management's (formerly USA Waste Services) trash gons after I had posted this thread here.

I was finally able to get some better shots today.

These gons were built in 2008 by National Steel Car. They are used to transport refuse from the Waste Management collection point in Jessup to the landfill in Sealston, VA. They are only used for this run and are not sent anywhere else.

Those are a very unique looking car Tommy and I have more questions I wonder why they have the six bays/pockets? You would think a regular bathtub configuration would give them a slightly larger capacity. Are they rotary dumped or scooped out?

I'm honestly not sure how the trash is extracted. Here is a view of the Sealston facility. It looks like it could house a rotary dump, but I can't find any information to confirm.

Here a link to watch, this is done on a ore car but same concept. It is a rotary tipper or rotary dumper. if you look there is a pocket on the front and rear of the car. the machine latches on here. the bays in the bottom of the car is just for more volume, i am assuming. some where I have some pictures of coal cars that are designed for a rotary dump system, the do not open on the bottom.
