UP2010 is listed as an SD70. It is a GEVO. Is that how UP listed it???

Brad copied the email he received, obviously there's an error in it as to what model the 2010 is. The email actually provides a lot more info about the consist than what's posted at upsteam.com .

3985 is undergoing an extensive inspection mandated by federal regs.

Here's some info I just came across on another site....

(quote) I was just in Cheyenne for a steam shop tour on Friday 2/17 and 3985 will be down in 2012 for a full 1472 day FRA inspection. It does not mean a full tear down but close to it. There is no boiler crack and the forces there expect it will pass the hydrostatic test without any issues. It could see operation in 2013.

They are not currently working on 3985 at all as they have 844 pretty torn down to move the centrifuge (I think that's what it's called) off the roof and to a new system on the bottom. This will keep the engine from getting all of that white/brown spray on the cab when it runs. That 'spray stuff' will be deposited on the track via some new piping. The cab roof of 844 is going to get a new coat of paint and brand new seats are being installed using the original frames. New boiler insulation and 10 gauge sheet metal is being added as well just ahead of the cab. They are also doing some cleaning and working on some things inside the boiler. They've also removed and are inspecting the drawbar between the engine and tender as per the FRA. All of this is in preparation for the trip at the end of March to Arkansas and Tennessee.

As always the UP steam forces are hard at work to put on a show. 844 should be better than ever on it's next trip!

To clarify Allan's reply, yes he knows there is no public display during the Council Bluffs layover. Wait a couple of months as it will be on display a couple of times this spring. Check out the UP 150 website events listings.
