UP 3981 showed up in passenger service again today in Portland, this time on the point of the southbound Coast Starlight. It was a colorful power set, with the yellow SD70M followed by a P42 and a Cascades F59.
[edit] My, that 3981 has been busy! About an hour after arriving at Portland on the Starlight, it ran northbound light, then came back to Portland leading #507, coupled to the front of the NPCU, with a silent F59 #468 on the trailing (north) end of the train.
[another edit] ... and there goes 3981 again, pushing a two-hour-late #508 northbound out of Portland!
