Has anyone else in the Salem, OR area noticed that UP detectors are not working? Was railfanning just north of Renard yesterday and only heard a partial detector announcement on my scanner. Then, nothing, even though Amrack and UP freights were fairly active.

Experienced the same thing in Kalama a couple of weeks ago, BNSF detectors North and South of that city were not announcing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Out here in NE there are a few dectors that don't talk unless something is wrong. The one at MP10 used to announce the trains coming but now it is quiet.

The notion of listening to detectors read out is appealing to me. While at work I see many a train roll by. I have several scanners I've picked up over the years. If someone wants to PM me I will share model #'s of what I have and try to determine if these would pick such info up.
