Yesterday while railfanning the Seattle Sub at Kalama, Washington I witnessed the northbound Amtrak Cascades heading to Seattle with UP 1988, The Katy, on the head end. Extremely surprising that it would be a "random" locomotive to choose to fill in, but amazing to see nonetheless! It was moving at full passenger track speed as well, impressive.
I was on the southbound 513 this morning and noticed UP 1988 parked in the coach yard.
I saw it sitting at King Street while we boarded the Leavenworth Snow train but it was so dark I didn't get any good shots...

Had they not pulled it off in Seattle it would have been the locomotive on your train.
The few pics I got as it flew through Kalama... I was yelling "no way" the whole time lol!
