Railfanning 01/30/11 COPYRIGHT KC RAILFANNING PRODUCTIONS Union Pacific ran their superbowl special from Council Bluffs, IA to Dallas, TX on January 30. They also paired the Katy heritage unit along with the boy scout unit with the consist. Here the train is on the Falls City Sub crossing from Kansas City, KS to Kansas City, MO and will change crews at Neff Yard a few miles east of here. Stay tuned for parts 2 & 3 as the train heads south.

I saw UP 951 on the Preamble Express in Sacramento back in the mid 70's around the time of the Bicentennial. Like many diesels of US railroads at the time, it was painted in a patriotic red, white & blue paint scheme.

I'm glad UP removed the red "Union Pacific" from the noses of the E units. IMO that really cleaned up the fronts. It was redundant anyway as the railroad's name is on the winged herald.
