Here my catch on the two Specials that are on tour of South Texas or should I say one touring and the other on its way for repairs. First special of the day was the SAUSA-19 out of Austin - San Antonio for Fiesta with UP E9 units. While waiting for the UP 494 E9s we got word that the UP 844 was going to make a run to Georgetown. So right up the road we went to catch the 844 from Hearne - Georgetown. I must say it was one great day for railfanning.

I rather like how they are not including a diesel unit in the move to Georgetown;). No sense in tempting Fate a second time, I suppose...

Very nice pictures, Joe!

I was tipped off about the UP 150th movements, and had planned to view it's passage through Rosenberg yesterday. Despite the published schedule, it seems to have come through the area much earlier than planned (1130 instead of the anticipated 1330 time frame). The Rosenberg museum wasn't much help until the opportunity had passed.

I'm posting here to ask, what is the best way to keep abreast of these movements? This forum seems to have great resources, but is there a better source of "real time" information in South Texas?

Thanks in advance!
Phil

Thanks for the comments guys. There all kinds of groups for spotting out there but on this two runs I just happen to be at the right place to hear fellow railfans talking about the run between Hearne to Georgetown.
