Under the Bridge and Setting Sun

Even in the shade it's 100+ degrees at 6pm in Sacramento. The crew of UP Y578 has just finished up their switching duties and is returning to the yard but has to hold for an outbound Amtrak California train before they can proceed.

Is that the bridge over the Sacramento River between Sacramento and West Sac? I took a photo of a Sacramento Northern RS2(?) crossing that bridge in the early 70's.

It is indeed, the bridge turns 100 this year.

A San Joaquin train heads south.

Moments later, UP 3880 heads for Fresno.

Nice shot from the I st bridge Marshall. I have a lot of night exposures from inside this bride, but have yet to catch something crossing it during the day. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, it's definitely toasty outside. But being born and raised in San Diego, I'll take the dry heat over the wet stuff.
