Yesterday was a pretty nice day in Southeast Wisconsin so I headed west towards Duplainville. Wisconsin's Hot Spot. And it turned out to be somewhat HOT !! Caught several interesting things. Including some wind turbine parts, locomotives possibly headed for scrap(hope not)and some freshly rebuilt and repainted locomotives. Also got my first shots of a new train. So here are some shots from 04-30-11.
I believe that this is the part of the wind turbine that sits on top of the pole and changes direction with the wind. These were carried on 4 truck KRL Flat Cars.
These look like the "snoot" of the turbine where the blades would be attached to.
These two locomotives were about 15 cars deep into CP Train #283. Definitely not running as DPU's. Hopefully there are not headed to scrap.
UP #9452 leads the MPRAD westbound in Sussex. This is my first shot of the MPRAD it is a new train on the line running from Proviso to Adams, WI. The train was about 25 cars long.
CN #2183 former Santa Fe warbonnet #843 leads a northbound train at Duplainville.
CN #2188 former ATSF warbonnet #853 has been freshly painted and rebuilt. However it appears to have lost its glasses.
Amtrak #47 leads the westbound Empire Builder #7 on time through Duplainville on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the start of Amtrak in 1971. The eastbound counterpart #8 passed by about 15 minutes earlier only 2 hours late.
