101 years ago tonight, 43 railroaders, 18 postal workers and 35 passengers onboard Great Northern #25 were killed at Wellington, Washington. My God give peace to their souls and to those who tried so hard to keep the disaster from happening.
Let's never forget what they did.....

I just started reading Vis Major last night. I read it when it first came out, but I wanted to read it again. As I was reading earlier today, it dawned on me that tonight was "the night." Great book, Martin! I would sure love to see it made into a movie.
I'm glad you posted this Martin. I read Vis Major last summer ( needed to cool off ) and thoroughly enjoyed it. You're vivid imagery gives life to the locations I'm familiar with up on the hill. The day to day struggle involved in normal railroading in that era was hard enough. The battle to keep the line open and the physical labor involved to do it was staggering. I think of those tough men often now that you've given them life in my imagination. Thank you!
Toward the end of fall 1963 my late uncle took me down to Wellington. Looking around the site there were still far too many reminders of what occurred that fateful night.
I pray their souls are resting in piece. They spent their last few moments on earth going through hell.

I'll agree that Vis Major would be a excellent movie. To Hollywood, a land where there are no new ideas, THIS IS WHAT A NEW IDEA LOOKS LIKE!!!! So Mister Burwash........had any inquiries to the movie rights yet?
