Stuff along the Sub - Spokane

Got these yesterday. Day before was raining with whitecaps on the lake which might have made a good pix, although ISP had multiple cars pulled over in the spot I could stop and get off US95. These are about 1/4 mile away looking kinda Northeast.

Looks like the alignment is gonna be just shorter than the existing.

Gonna double-track to Sandpoint Junction. Still have not found out if that is to continue up the Kootenai or stop here as we go East to Missoula on the MRL. Track through to the junction looks to be tricky. Looks like they will have to join the current alignment for the station, build a new overpass next to the existing and re-do the junction. Time will tell.

(above) Railroad is on an embankment through Sandpoint. See the arches on US95? Narrow road goes under the tracks for access to the City Park and other establishments. Google Earth shows that the RoW is NOT very wide after that bridge although it looks like there be room. Bridge construction is beyond the curve to the left.

After the signal bridge, main curves to the left and runs across the valley on steel trestle to UP Crossing then Boyer West; to the right is the MRL which follows along the lake. Spokane Sub ends at the junction, Kootenai Sub starts heading toward UP Crossing. Don't remember the MRL Sub just now. Age has its problems - would have walked both ways for better/closer pix, but I HAD to go.

Is there still a sign at the junction that says words to the effect Entering Mountain Time Zone?
For those not familiar with the area, that is the railroads' Mountain Time Zone, not the actual Mountain Time Zone, which is farther east at the Idaho-Montana border.

Boy, don't remember seeing anything like that. I have been all three sides of that junction too. Will check next time.
