It's not much of a photo, but it does record SP&S 700 and one coach northbound from Portland Union Station at 6:39 Friday evening. Thankfully the "quiet zone" was ignored and 700 sounded her whistle at each crossing! The bright lights of the traveling "Cavalia" equestrian show next to the MP 0.5 crossovers provide some welcome illumination.
Hmmm...
Heard the boys were at the Dockside last night. Wonder what they thought of getting a rollby from the 700?
... And returning to Portland, about 4:20 Saturday afternoon:
Thanks for posting these. I'd have liked to make it down, but I couldn't this year. She's my favorite of the Northerns. My Christmas wish? Get her back out on the mainline in the Gorge and let her romp! Or dare I say it, another Montana trip?
Even though 700 was only pulling the PRPA support coach, it was nice to see her on the mainline in a pure steam move -- no diesel "protection."
