RRT3 Help

My RRT3 game just came into the mail today, and for some reason it will not open. I get this message:

Runtime Error!
Program: C://Program Files/Railroad Tycoon 3/RT3.EXE
abnormal program termination

What can I do about it?

Well, no one's gonna be able to help you unless you provide additional information such as what hardware and operating system you're using and what version of the game you have; some versions of a game may not work with a particular OS or may need to have compatibility settings enabled to allow those versions to work properly (I'm guessing this is the problem, but I can't know unless I know what your particular OS is). Unfortunately, I don't have any experience playing RRT3 under Vista or Windows 7 (I didn't like the gameplay and stopped playing it back when I was still using Windows XP); however, there is a website called The Terminal (http://theterminal.dune2k.com/ ) that has both additional maps and forums for folks who are still playing RRT2 and RRT3, and there is a thread in the "Railroad Tycoon 3 Discussion" section on running the game in Vista (which may also apply to Windows 7). Feel free to post your questions there; even though it's been quiet in that particular section for a while, there are others who check it and the rest of the forums regularly and can answer your questions (or at least point you in the right direction).​
