Greetings all!
As a heads up, the Sierras have 36' of snow. The snow is reportedly at the top or above the tele poles. I have been told the Rotaries will be heading out. They are putting the set together now.

When the spreaders have no more places to push snow or if there is a big slide, then the rotaries will go out. Once you use them and make a "rotary trench", very difficult to spread and flange after that as the trench will freeze solid. Rotaries are the last resort next to closing the Hill

Correct. When we put together the 602, 574 and flanger the crew showed up. The engineer confirmed the walls of snow are high and the snow on the rails are deep. That was at 1:20. As a matter of fact the eastbound Amtrack that left Roseville around noon was sitting in Colfax. They had to wait for the 602 set to get to them and lead Amtrack over the summit. We built the Rotary set this morning to go out today/tonight. They're running ready to go.

I hope somebody here(RRForums) wants to brave the Sierra elements to capture some of this,it may be worth it.
