Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I recently got hired with CP as a conductor and will be starting class shortly. I do have a question regarding smoking cigarettes. Will I have to quit? I know the rules say smoking is prohibited on the property but only allowed in designated smoking areas. But what does that mean? Do these designated smoking areas even exist?

If the rules say you can only smoke in a designated area, then only smoke in the designated area. Especially if you're new. Don't give the company a reason to can you right out of the gate. I work for UP, and we're a 100% smoke free company. With us, you can't smoke while on duty regardless of where you are.
