Great shots of 3902. Since I am planning to visit Alaska RR this year, I am wondering if is it easy to find these USAF locos at Eilson.

Hi Pedrop

Eielson is a small base, with the tracks running right through the middle of it. The main reason for the tracks is to feed the coal generated power plant that supplies the base electricity. A small building houses the Geep on the corner of Central Avenue and Division (of course this is an active US military installation, you cannot go into the base without proper authorization/clearance)

As for visiting the ARR, I would board the train at Whittier or Seward AK, and ride it to Fairbanks AK. Fairbanks has an airport to fly out of. This route will allow you to see the vast majority of ARR and AK. Stay a day in Anchorage and Denali. Not much to see in Fairbanks.
