JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Feb. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RailAmerica, Inc. (NYSE: RA) today reported that its total freight carloads in January 2012 were 71,737, up 4.0% from 68,963 in January 2011.
The Company increased shipments in January 2012 in seven out of twelve commodity groups compared to January 2011. The largest increases were in Other, Forest Products and Motor Vehicles. Other was up primarily due to a non-recurring move in the Central region driven by a Class I partner diverting traffic to one of our roads.
