Railroadforums.com is a free online
Railroad Discussion Forum and
Railroad Photo Gallery for railroaders, railfans, model railroaders and anyone else who is interested in railroads. We cover a wide variety of topics, including freight trains, passenger and commuter railroads, rail news and information, tourist railroads, railway museums and railroad history.
Because the model forum is busier, it consumes most of the time available for participating here, and most of that is spent nuking any spammers that get through. In a perfect world, we'd all have all the time and energy we need for the forums.
If anyone is interested in helping out around here to make things a bit easier, let me know.

Even though retired, I am not sure how much time I might commit, but I would be interested to know what types of tasks one could help with.

Pretty much hang around on the forum, respond to any questions you can answer, and watch for spam/scam posts, and deal with them accordingly.
Go ahead and DM me with a brief overview. Obviously there is not much activity...that we see, so, checking in once or twice a day probably would not be a problem. Do you have a FAQ of the types of questions you normally get?

It's pretty low key, and no we don't have any fancy FAQs. It's sort of learn as you go, and I'm really mellow.
"Respond to any questions you can answer" I think he meant general forum questions. If somebody says "Where can I find Amtrak schedules?" you'd reply "Amtrak.com" with a bit of explanation.
If you two agree you can work together, we'll give it a try.

I don't see a problem.
I'm willing to give it a shot, but I really have no idea what exactly that looks like...
Thanks for helping with the forum! My granddaughter works for Terex (formally American and has recently been bought out again by an Arab sheik or prince). She sent this picture to me today and wants me to try to find any information about it. They were cleaning out files and she asked if she could have this picture to send to her grandmother since I am a train buff. Her office is in Wilmington, NC near the port where they used to ship Terex/American cranes. Not sure where this photo was taken since Terex cranes are manufactured in Italy. If anyone has a glimmer of information I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Well, I have some spare time now, so might as well try to be useful!
You will probably have better luck getting some info by posting a "Help Identify" with the pic, to the Locomotives and Rolling Stock subforum. Interesting pic!

Thanks that's a good suggestion! I appreciate any help you are able to supply. I love trains and doing research but this picture doesn't have much to go by. No telling how old/new the picture is either. I don't do any social media and rely on "real" people for these types of things. Thanks again for your suggestion!
