After being out of commission since 2010 due to a severely cracked piston cylinder, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad's famous 1896-built 4-6-0 steamer, "Puffy", finally returned to service on the GVRR last Friday. She is seen in this video on her re-inaugural excursion pulling a Friday night wine train to Haltom City. The former SP steamer will pull the Friday night wine train excursions each week except for special event weeks when the wine train does not operate. I asked a GVRR official about when Puffy would be back to pulling excursions to the Fort Worth Stockyards, and was informed it will probably be some time before that happens due to repair work that is needed on the water tower at the Stockyards. In the meantime, at least this beautiful steamer is back on the rails again charming tourists with the wine train excursions. Enjoy
Been Nothin' Since Frisco
Fantastic! I look forward to seeing Puffy on the rails, and maybe even going for a ride on the wine train if I ever get a Friday night off.
