Polson Logging Company 2-8-2 #70 had its first day of revenue operation on Sunday 5/8/11. The engine pulled Mt Rainer Scenic RR's Mother's Day Trains.

This locomotive was the subject of a nearly 10 year long restoration project at the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad shops. The locomotive required a total restoration. The running gear was completely rebuilt, and the engine also required extensive boiler work. The engine runs and sounds great!

The lack of boiler lagging and jacket is only temporary. After completion of the engine's break-in period, the boiler jacketing will be installed and a final paint job applied.

The engine looks great. I have an older videotape that covers the railroad, and it is amazing how much things have changed. Different engines pull trains now, and even the depot is different.
