Does anyone the types of diesels the Oregon Shortline used in it's last couple of decades? I believe it was totally absorbed by the UP in the mid-80's. Can't find much out there on diesels. Thanks for any info.
Bill
The Oregon Short Line became a paper company long before it was formally absorbed, and its roster was essentially the Union Pacific roster. The only locomotive class that was concentrated in OSL territory were the original GP38-2 units in the low 2000s; earlier, large numbers of F-units were also in service until their retirement.
Joe--
Thanks so much for the information. So I'm assuming that the line would have basically looked more like a UP division with UP motive power, no distinct OS paint schemes, at least in the last 2-3 decades of its existence.
That answers why there is little info on this on the internet then. Thanks, again!

Bill--
Don Strack has an
excellent summary of UP's relationship with OSL and other subsidiaries on his Utah Rails site. Steam remained numbered under OSL until the end but none of the diesels indicate OSL lettering per his roster notes.
Thanks Chesire to Cook for the information. It appears that the Oregon Shortline maybe just never had diesels painted with their own scheme. Thanks for the link the summary as well.
