This weekend was a busy time for OCSR. We have been working the last couple of months towards moving the Tillamook Depot from its original location. After several weeks of preparation which included removing the roof, windows and doors and jacking the building off its foundation. The day arrived to back trailer under the building and pull it out of the hole.

The first two pictures are the depot after it was loaded on the trailer and pulled out onto solid ground and the hole left by the buildings removal.

With the depot and trailer on solid ground the load was moved through the Hampton Lumber Mill and staged near 3rd st in Tillamook for a 7AM departure.

The final picture is the depot passing the Tillamook Pioneer Museum's steam donkey in downtown Tillamook.

More to come.....

OCSR moves Tillamook Depot - part 2

Due to the height of the load, 19 feet and change, we had to loop through downtown to avoid overhead traffic lights at a couple of major intersections in Tillamook (Downtown Tillamook has 6 intersections with traffic lights). This gave me the opportunity to shoot the depot crossing Main St (US 101) at 2nd. The view is looking north on the one way southbound side of Main St.

After exiting the downtown area the depot turned onto US 101 and crossed Hoquarton Slew and headed north towards its new home at the Blue Heron property.

The final picture is turing off of Hwy 101 onto the Blue Heron property where we will restore the building which will include rebuilding the roughly 60 foot freight room that burned down in the mid-70's. We hope the depot can reopen next year to celebrate its 100th annaversary.

Overall the move went very smoothly. OCSR has a long list of individuals and organizations that helped on the move. We thank everyone involved.

Thanks for looking.

Good to hear that the depot has moved. The lumber mill security folks threatened to call the cops the last time I took a photo of the depot!

Flooding?

Seems to be lots of people wondering about flooding issues at the Blue Heron location? Would assume you had thought that through, but people seem concerned!
