NS fumbles slow order request, town parade almost hit

This was on the NS line that allows Amtrak trains to connect between the S-line in Raleigh and the A-Line at Selma NC. It sees the Silver Star and Carolinian trains.

Sante Fe hit the Lead Circus Elephant in a parade in Los Lunas NM. Killed one, pulled the tails out of 7 others. BWAHAHA.

I would never trust an e-mail request and response. They should have requested a flagman to be there who could have confirmed the order was in effect, and then notified people when the train was approaching. They do that around here quite often when there are events near the tracks.

And furthermore, they shouldn't have fouled the tracks anyways, even with a 'go slow order'. Once the lights and bells started, they should have been clear of the crossing.
