Sounds like you guys will be pretty busy. Will you be getting anymore motors for the line? I know it's flat down there but that seems like a lot for that SW 1.

We believe a single SW-1 is good for 30 ish cars. Our plan is to get another or get something for the OUCH and move Ex DR 15 over. When traffic develops we intend to run MU'd pairs of SW-1's. We actually intend on using party barge cabooses as well on daily freights.

That sounds like a plan. Hopefully things will work out for you guys. Has there been any talk as far as extending rail to the Yellow Bend Port? We've been hearing that someone is supposed to be applying for a federal grant to build the line to the Port.

How are things going with Myriant? You guys have been getting a Slew of Tanks in Mcgehee. I noticed that you have started pulling them out of the yard putting them in the clear on the South End.

Tanks are going into storage at various location in AR and LA (Eudora, Shelburn, and Lake Providence). Best news is effective 8-15-2016, the railroad is open. We still have a couple of pieces of paper to sign with DSRR but the line is open. We're hoping to handle the first revenue car around the end of the month. I will try to get a photo and post it here

I think there is going to be one in October or so. You know let the politicos get there picture in paper just before election day. If I get enough notice, I'll post here in case anyone wants to catch the train themselves. Initial service should be bi weekly with an estimate of about 10-12 cars per train to start.

A couple of pieces of paper to sign. That took a while and getting the interchange in the national computer system ... sigh.

NLA 22 headed North from Lake Providence with the first car today.

It took a while but the corridor is open.

There is an article on this line.

any updates on this line, wonder if the operation takes one day from lake providence, la to the interchange in Arkansas. at one time they had a customer in lake village, ar.

Thanks for the photos. Love those little diesels. Are any of them operational? A lot of that track looks pretty "shakey". Does anyone know the extent of operations over the line?

XMCX (Motive Care) GP8 703 at McGehee, AR on March 26, 2022. The rehabilitation is coming along nicely. Trains are running to and from Lake Village and Lake Providence once again. 25 mph track speed will soon be possible on the McGehee to Lake Village section in a couple of months. The Epstein Gin in Lake Village is loading cottonseed into cars to be brought to the UP in McGehee. There’s still plans in play to build a branch to the Yellow Bend Port. A new waste-to-energy plant is being planned to be built at the Chicot County landfill north of Lake Village with rail access. Livingston’s Scrapyard in Lake Village wants the railroad to put in a switch to access the scrapyard with a spur track.
