Had to get out of the house at least one day of my vacation. With clear skies Friday morning 10-14-2011 I headed down Rochelle, IL. But I didn't want to take any shots at the Deerstand(Railfan Platform). So I decided to check out the BNSF line. I had my laptop with ATCS and that was helpful but at times there seemed to be ghost trains on the display, but at least I knew when trains were coming for the most part.

The UP was dead pretty much of the day. THE BNSF was running hot and heavy. Lots of great power too including warbonnets and my personal favorite the creme and green SD70MACS.

Here is a sampling of the NON-Rochelle Rochelle Day.

I think this is a "then and now". The CN unit I believe was at one a ATSF warbonnet. Of course one is a Dash9 and the other a Dash8.

I think I found the roller coaster I had talked to Rwischer about. Here is a westbound on the coaster.

I believe the BJRY switcher is an MLW S13. Cool catches. If you are ever in the area again, I highly recommend DeKalb on the UP. The coaling tower is a great photo prop.

Awesome shots. I also love the MLW S13, saw it once when I was in Rochelle, but was not lucky enough to catch it working. Where is this "roller coaster"?

The roller coaster shot was taken at Skare Road(appropriate for Halloween). The road crossing is about a mile northwest of Flagg Center on the BNSF. So probably about 4 miles from the Rochelle railfan platform. The train is westbound.
