Hello,

I have a quick question that hopefully someone may be able to answer. I set up my G Scale train. I have a 120 volt transformer. When plugged in the light is green indicating there is power to the transformer.

When the wires are connected to it and hooked up to the track, there is no power going to the track. When I touch the wires to the track, they spark. So, I know there is power being out-put from the transformer through the wires.

The connection I am using is a Bachmann connectors that slides under the track and connects to the rails.

The track is a circle and is fully connected. Why am I not getting power to the track to move the train?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'm trying to get this up and running for under our Christmas tree for my kids, well and me. ;-)

You say when you touch the wires to the track they spark, is that 1 wire to each rail or 2 wires to the same rail? Do you have a volt meter or a light you could check the voltage on the track? Are you sure the clamps are actually touching the rail and not clamping on the plastic part. Another test is to turn the locomotive over and touch one wire to opposite wheels to make sure the loco is OK. Did you leave a pair of pliers on the track? I did that once on a curve way in the back where I couldn't see it. Also put the loco on the track and touch one wire to each rail and see if the engine runs. Maybe the factory put one of the drivers on backwards and it is shorting the transformer. Oh Yea don't wear a metal watch band when working on the track. Good luck. TZ

I attached just the bare wires to the rail and it works! May have to sauter it on, for whatever reason the clip wasn't working. But I am up and running now! Thank You for the tip!
