Good catch on the trio of Geeps pulling the garbage train. I haven't seen that in a long, long, time. With the motive power shortage caused by coal and oil trains, maybe BNSF has reassigned all high horsepower diesels to higher priority trains.

I call those fading, peeling AT&SF units "War(p) Bonnets" and they are quite active. I heard the fading and peeling was caused by faulty factory paint jobs on a particular order.

Yeah I was happy to catch those geeps on that garbage train. I've heard they're pulling power from coal trains to put on grain trains which apparently has started up a little earlier this year. Sounds like it going to be messy soon for BNSF.

Some grainy dusk shots of the empty coal going to Delta. This exact train had a crazy quick turn around. Some member on my Facebook train forum got this coming back to the PNW loaded like 5 days later. I couldn't believe how fast it loaded up and came back. All the same engines too.

Delta Yard was pretty full today so this loaded coal sat at Bayside Yard. The rear ACe DPU has been very busy as a DPU for coal unit trains. I've seen this now for the 3rd time and I'm amazed at how quickly it gets to and from our state. Amazingly fast. I was glad to finally get pics of ACes. I think the lead ACe has been pulling coal with this rear DPU on all 3 times it's been in our state but I can't remember what was lead when I first saw the DPU pushing into Delta a few weeks ago.

Two Gevos leading manifest over bridge 37 out of Delta Junction (I think that's it, the far east tracks) elephant style. Second Gevo looked to be newer. Didn't see the tree branch until after the shots. :(

Great pictures! Regarding the DPU 9395 SD70ACe, I've heard from several people that the non-isolated cab ACe's are prohibited from being used as leaders on BNSF. From what I understand it's due to excessive vibration and noise when at speed. I believe these non-isolated versions are mostly pulling DPU duty now because of that restriction.

Keep the pictures coming! I've gone back through the last several pages and have found quite a few pics that are going to be very handy for modeling purposes, particularly the shots of coal trains (as that is what I'm working on at the moment). I'll be spending some time over the next few days enjoying all the photos you've posted here.

Thanks Kevin! About the DPU, I think I've heard the same thing...although no one likes operating any of the Ace's regardless of non-isolated or isolated cabs so they end up somewhere else on the consist. :) I have a particular interest in unit trains myself and plan on focusing on that for my HO layout in the future so I try to take as many pics of those as I can.

Kevin, got some photos for ya. I didn't bring my other lens so I couldn't get the shots I wanted of the inside of the coal cars but hopefully these will do for now.

Took my daughter out for a walk at Lowell and it happened to be a busy time frame for train activity.

First up was the tail end of this empty coal leaving Lowell. Not sure what was on front but this nice ACe satisfied my ACe craving.

This train got a high green and right before it made contact with the crossing it suddenly stopped. I checked my ATCS and nothing was coming westbound so not sure what happened but they reversed back to the signal bridge and tied it down. I think the crew left so maybe change of plans.

Perfect! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I appreciate you taking the time to grab a few pics on the interior weathering. I've been searching for a while but couldn't find any pictures of the inside of these cars. I've already saved all those pics for reference!

I've been there when this happens-the train being on Lowell Siding is a clue. They came out of Delta using the "Connector", connecting to the middle of the siding. They have to make a poke out onto the main, line the Connector switch normal and then back up. It sounds like it was not a road crew that moved the train. They probably moved this one out of the Marsh Tracks because the yard needed the space.

Hi Bill,

With my work schedule it's been very hard to get out, especially with winter's limited light. Now that longer daylight hours are here I can snap photos after work. Plus I had an actual day off today. :)
