On my way south for a short holiday in October 2012, I had to change trains at the Liège-Guillemins station (Belgium) while waiting for my next train I took the opportunity to take some photos. The Liège-Guillemins station got a complete transformation after a design by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. This has been completed in 2009.
The first photo shows a veteran train-set of the NMBS (Nationale Maatschappij der Belgische Spoorwegen, Belgian State Railways) waiting for departure as all stop local to Maastricht (the Netherland) while flaked by to Thalys train-sets, so old meets new in two ways.
The second: A few minutes later the both Thayls train stes have left.
And finaly at platform level another veteran train-set of the NMBS with the latest paint scheme apllied.
Enjoy,
Gijs
