A couple of steam trips for Memorial Day Weekend 2011.

First up was the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson, IN. HVRM hosted Nickel Plate #765 again with excursion runs to La Crosse, IN and back. With runby's in La Crosse and plenty of room for the Big Berk to stretch her legs, this is a terrific excursion package.

1) Gloomy skies and cool temps failed to dampen the enthusiasm of passengers or photographers on Saturday, May 28.
2) The engine crosses the short trestle over Pitner Ditch near La Crosse, IN.
3) A pair of young railfans from the Ft. Wayne Railroad Historical Society watch as the #765 backs up for another runby in La Crosse as the rains began.

Next up was the Kentucky Railway Museum and L&N #152.

1) Sunny skies and summer-like warmth on Sunday May 29 made for a very pleasant day to shoot old pal #152...seen here shortly after leaving the depot in New Haven, KY.
2) Hand-firing the 1905 Rogers product is hot work on a warm day.
3) Although the foliage outside the fireman's window appears to be flying by, the locomotive is really only gliding through the KRM yard.
4) Crossing Holton Valley Road, the excursion train heads for Boston, KY.

Thanks for the comments, guys...here are a couple more.

1) NKP #765 rolls past the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum's locomotive shop.
2) The big Nickel Plate Berk moves by the preserved Grasselli Tower and some of the HVRM's terrific collection of signals.
3) Kentucky Railway Museum's L&N #152 powers past a tidy farm near Nelsonville Loop Road on their former L&N branch. The horses seem unimpressed.
