This is the rail bridge crossing the McLeod River, within town limits of Whitecourt, Alberta. Cross this bridge, and you are on your way west to the industrial oilfield installations outside of Fox Creek. As far as I know, that is the end of the tracks.

When I took these photographs on February 28, 2020, I was waiting...waiting...waiting for a train to cross, with no luck. So these are initial photos of the bridge from a cold, unlucky day. I intend to try again on a warm Sunday, as that's the day trains seem to really move in our small town.

Today, I captured an October photo of a pair of SD40's (5242+5343) entering onto the bridge:

I've failed this summer to capture a full freight coming off the bridge, on a bright morning. Such a freight in this area would likely be made up of two-bay hoppers or center-beam flats, or tankers and boxcars. That's the photo I want; just never on location at the right time.
