So with classes not starting until Tuesday because of MLK Day, I decided to take the opportunity to railfan a bit in the Austin area. I originally was going to set up shop at McNeil, but eventually decided to go right on through to Taylor. It ended up working out as five minutes after parking in downtown Taylor, a northbound UP container stack came rolling through the Taylor yard and across the diamond on the southeast side of town.
After it left, I went east on U.S. 79 and got ahead of it in Rockdale where I set up for a video of it blasting through town right along side the small railroad museum there.
So today turned out pretty well despite seeing nothing else. I realized today that I really need a tripod and zoom lens for this stuff, but I can make do for now. As usual, photo (and video) critiques are certainly welcome.
