That is odd, U.P. Salina, seeing as this one is DME, which is painted over something else it looks like.

It could have been one that the KYLE had,and was either returned from lease/sold , and DME picked it up

I also spotted a former CN coal gon, now has GACX marks on it, CN letters painted over

I also googled that name this afternoon while out railfanning. I found, oddly enough a link to this thread on here, as well as a lot about court cases from the grain company. Sounds to me like it was a family name, not the name of a town.

looking for Info

Well I too was looking for info on the Lapeyrouse grain company and luckily I found this site. I work for a large grain compnay in South Dakota and we are serviced by the DM&E. I have come to the conclusion that this is where all railcars come to live their last days of dying. I have ssen more old Iron in the year I have been here than the 30 years prior. It is great, working x soo-line engine stuff sold old the power washer could not even get thru the cob webs. Now I know people are interested I will start loading up pictures to share with all of you.

I am really quite surprised by how many DM&E cars I see in the yard here in Ontario! I like it when I find an interesting or unusual name on a car, that is why the pic was taken.
