I also googled that name this afternoon while out railfanning. I found, oddly enough a link to this thread on here, as well as a lot about court cases from the grain company. Sounds to me like it was a family name, not the name of a town.
Well I too was looking for info on the Lapeyrouse grain company and luckily I found this site. I work for a large grain compnay in South Dakota and we are serviced by the DM&E. I have come to the conclusion that this is where all railcars come to live their last days of dying. I have ssen more old Iron in the year I have been here than the 30 years prior. It is great, working x soo-line engine stuff sold old the power washer could not even get thru the cob webs. Now I know people are interested I will start loading up pictures to share with all of you.
I am really quite surprised by how many DM&E cars I see in the yard here in Ontario! I like it when I find an interesting or unusual name on a car, that is why the pic was taken.
