Hi
I recently listed an antique railroad bell, very large brass or bronze one on eBay for sale. I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell me specifically what train it would have been on or if there is a way for me to tell? I have had a few requests asking this and am not sure how to tell or offer more info. Any help is appreciated very much guys.

Hi Traci,
Unless there are identifying markings cast into the bell it is usually difficult if not impossible to say what engine or line it would have been on. Many bells were transferred from one locomotive to another over their lifespan and records have proven to be nonexistent in most cases.
If you can find markings either cast into the bell or stamped or marked it can be helpful and sometimes possible to trace from that information, but many bells do not have any markings.
Thanks for sharing though, it's a cool item!!
