Off season and Spring I decided to do some learning about the trains that pass near my office pretty much every day. Little industrial siding.

Then I found some more, and the scanner Freq. and Ron's Duplainville with loads of Wisconsin specific information and... here I am, rank amateur railfan. Except that I've watched for years, been interested, took photos, and had a casual interest.

Plans are hopefully sometime this Summer ride Amtrak to Texas, find a car without rust and drive back to Wisconsin. That should be a nice little road trip? (alternate plan is Go West to Utah or Northern Nevada and do the same)

Second level roomette, that's me...

Edit: Now I've been warned, Texas floods, hurricanes, lets not forget Katrina. Looks more like this trip will be out West. :)

Thanks all.

Besides my year round job, I'll be commuting to work for most of the Summer. On and off day labor 55 miles each way, except when I camp on site. Too bad, no active rail lines, but there are tracks right over the hill. And the Interstate portion of the trip, runs parallel to a nice medium use right of way. Time to turn on the scanner and listen for traffic and EOT blips.

Obviously the "real" job doesn't cover expenses. :)
