Hello to all,

I'm Mike & I live in the UK. I am a fan of the Railways here in Britain, but my real passion lies with the U.S Railroads!

I have spent a lot of time railfanning many different states including, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming, Illinois, Florida, Georgia..........

This October I will be vacationing in the U.S, based in N.E. Kansas. However I am wanting to head into Oklahoma, (new territory), to catch the BNSF, UP, WATCO operated lines & any other Class Ones, or Shortlines I can get. Is there anyone on the forum that would be willing to pass on any hotspots within Oklahoma that are worth checking out for photography, (I understand Ok is a big state). I will definitely be checking out Alva, Waynoka, Curtis Hill et al within that area and as such was hoping that any local Railfans would want to meet me and show me around, or just pass on some gen.

If you are a Railfan in Oklahoma, Kansas, in fact any State, drop by and say hello!

Mike.

Hello April,

Thanks for the reply! Any info you can pass along will be greatly appreciated. Hot spots, Train frequencies, Hotels/Motels, places to eat & anything else you think important. Vinta is somewhere I will be looking at in the N.E.:)

Hey Luke,

Thanks for the welcome & replying to my thread! Western Kansas is also new territory for me, so any info you think I should know, please pass this way. I'll have two weeks in which to go places, so it would be good to cover Salina & Westwards.

Mike.

Hey Mike, I live in Northeastern part of Oklahoma, right by Close to Vinita and Afton Oklahoma, there's a BNSF/UP diamond in Vinita, and a Wye in Afton. Oklahoma has some pretty nice spots.

Hi Dippo,

Thank you for the info. Do you know what the frequency of traffic is in Vinta? I've already watched a few videos of the diamond. How about Afton too?

No unfortunately I have no idea, I don't go there very often, but when I do, there's plenty of traffic. But you're going to see more traffic in Vinita than in Afton.
