Glued inside the glass bowl is [ D.& R.G.W. form 4197 ]

Is "Original Shop Date 9-3-40 " the day the relay was placed into inventory?
"Date 4-17-75 " when placed into service 35 years later?

Thank you.

6-21-39 - Date it was built
5-4-73 - Last Date it was in a shop and rebuilt
48 - 50 FPM - 48 to 50 Flashes per minute - It's a flasher relay for a grade crossing.

That is what I was thinking but would the D&RGW knowhen it was built?
It is their label glued inside in 1973.

The rebuilder would have had to open the case to rebuild it. Its likely that there was a similar label inside showing the original build date. The rebuilder replaced that label with a new one, showing both dates.

This is just conjecture on my part, of course, as I wasn't there.
:p
