It will always be a GP30 to me. The GP30 is one of my favorite second generation EMD units. The cowl over the cab roof was a distinctive and welcome relief from all the look-alike GP35's, GP40's, and SD40/40-2's of the early 70's-mid 80's. It is hard to believe the original model is now 50 years old and still on the road.
Those rebuilt GP30s will be around for quite a while, or at least until the EPA regs change yet again

. It still seems a bit odd to see Cascade Green here in the Southwest, but it's a nice contrast to all those damn pumpkins...
