Am I the only one that thinks this is a little tacky? Will Amtrak's power and rolling stock become mobile billboards like Portland MAX trains and city busses??
It is kind of weird looking, but I think it's kind of neat to see something different on the cascades and that gold and black really looks neat
Just my opinion; Tastefully done for public regional and cultural events such as the King Tut exhibit I don't mind. Dress them up like candy bars, pop cans or big corporate stores, that to me would not be good.

Actually it looks like it's promoting a TV show.
That is an awesome looking unit! Too bad it will stay out west. I missed the Amtrak P42DC that was wrapped for Toyota a few years ago too.
It's advertising the King Tut exhibit at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle.
Via Rail was doing this sort of thing a while back. I don't know if they have any power currently carrying advertising.
Currently VIA has no units wrapped with any kind of advertising or promotions. However in the near future one will emerge for the CFL Grey Cup 100 Tour train

Lets look at it from a non railfans view point and it's advertising dollars to AMTK or would you rather complain about paying 10 cents a gallon more for gas.
I saw it last weekend at Centralia, WA but it was pulling away as I was grabbing the camera. Looks fine to me.
