I was wondering if anyone know the P42 number that was recently burned up in the accident. I know its a bolt-on nose loco?
Forgive the cynicism, but can't truckers do their job without running into Amtrak trains. Amtrak has enough problems with equipment shortages.
honsetly amtrak should step their maintence program up i have seen many reports on preventable breakdowns on Amtrak as a whole. Honsetly i wish the class 1's would get bak in the passenger market, I have seen a flyer on some upcoming model releases of Penn, UP and Santa Fe's name train and it look amazing of the past rail travels
What you just said LATX has nothing at all to do with this accident. Keep wishing for Class 1's to get back into the market, it will never happen they wanted out for a reason...they were losing money on it!

ok look this accident was not what i was refering to, I am for Amtrak do not get me wrong. I model Amtrak in HO scale, But honsetly my comment was toward the shortage have amtrak engines but anyway all i want to know is the engine number for the brunt up P42
Looks like the trucking company whose driver crashed into the middle of the California Zephyr in Nevada is suing Amtrak and Union Pacific. This is in spite of the fact that his two trucking comrades saw the train and stopped. He was probably asleep at the wheel or under the influence.
I guess the best defense is good offense!
