I see that NS and CSX both have job listings for a conductor and train crew in Decatur Illinois. I am looking for something closer to my house. I work about 95 miles from home now due to a freight reconfiguration (trucking). Does anyone have info on what this entry level position would be like? And there was a mention of a mandatory move to Engineer training? Is this normal? I am 49 years old and used to outside work and a extra board schedule. And is this a good opportunity to become an engineer? Any answers would be welcomed. thanks Mister. is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to - An online railroad bookstore featuring a curated selection of new and used railroad books.
