title really says it all. wondering if the up uses dash 9's as dpu on coal trains. guess more specifically sp dash 9's that have been patched. thanks csx 381

Steam Chaser
The UP usually never uses Dash 9s, or any other DC engines, on coal trains. The Dash 9s and SD70Ms on UP are not equipped with DPU capabilities.

Things may change with the DP's across the system. UP is purchasing a bunch of new ES4400's to replace the currrent Sierra DP's. So you may see the older ES4400's move elsewhere for DP use.

What is your malfunction?
You will find a Dash-9 as DPU on coal trains once in a while but always on grain trains.
