These were taken at Saginaw, TX, in front of Trinityrail's railcar plant.
Somehow I missed seeing that.
Awesome! Real "winning"!!

They're doing a good thing but why couldn't the money for that paint go to fundraising instead?
There was 3 hoppers like this one (different numbers), but by the time I got back with my camera, the others were gone!
The lettering is pretty cheap (price-wise) compared to advertising on tv or radio, so I beleive this is better than giving the money to a fundraiser. This campaign may help the cause a bunch!
Until some tagger gets to it.
I wonder how these PSA-type messages get around the ban on advertising on railcars?
the one you photo'd is now in the UP system in omaha NE

Because it's a nonprofit organization?

And why do you think it
isn't? You can't raise funds if nobody knows who your organization is, what it's raising money for, and how to contact your organization. Besides, it's quite likely that Trinity, ConAgra, or GATX paid for it out of their own pockets anyway, so there wouldn't be any cost to the charity/non-profit in question if that were the case. It's just par for the course, my friend.

Because it's a nonprofit organization?
More specifically, this is a PSA
for a non-profit,
charitable organization, which isn't covered by the ban at all.
Commercial advertising falls under the ban, yes, but not this.

Why is there a ban on advertising on rail cars?
Whatever gets the message out is all that matters .
