Chama, NM October 6,2017

Took trip to Antonito CO. and Chama NM last week. Great fall colors and of coal fired STEAM locomotives. More private property signs along the line east from Chama. Plenty of pull offs on Hwy 17 but a hike along the tracks in some places could change the views. I understand that with the sheer numbers of tourists to this area how difficult it could be to keep your private property pristine. The first day Thursday the 5th was rainy on the west side of Cumbres Pass, but the colors were still great. Here are 4 from the west side. I rode the train on Friday the 6th and had a great time. Great view out of room 20 at Fosters hotel across from the coal chute in Chama. Even a rainbow on Thursday as the rain subsided. I highly recommend this journey into the late 1800's to any steam fan or just as a family vacation day.

The second "night time at the shops" has much atmosphere. The silhouette of the loco on the left and the front of the lit up one is just really artistic.
