Last weekend I was railfanning on the CN mainline in Dundas, Ontario. It was a pathetically slow day, but this one lone CEFX reporting mark engine went cruising through. Makes me wonder what it was doing there.

Probably leased to the railink-related shortlines in the area. Don't they operate the Brantford area branches as well as in the Hamilton yard area?
The probably have rights on the Dundas to connect their properties.
Rail link does run from Brantford to Nanticoke, and does a lot of switching around the Hamilton area. But, I looked up CEFX and it comes back to CIT Equipment Finance Corp. There was even a RailAmerica (Rail Link) engine parked in the Brantford train yard for a couple of days.
I see these every now and then in my area, but not lately.
Hey Fr8, you are near my old stomping grounds, I grew up in Green Bay. Anyway, this is the first time I have seen anything with CEFX on it.

Rail America has a bunch of these locomotives leased. They are scattered on Rail America properties all over North America.
CP also has a bunch of CEFX locomotives on lease although none of them are that type.
CEFX Engine
G'day
CEFX engine number 2011 is sitting here in North Bay, Ontario right now.
Cheers...Chris
That seems to be the case with CEFX all over, I guess for smaller railroads leasing is a cheaper alternative than purchasing.

I noticed that, on the March 25 incredible lashup video I did at the CP line in Milton there was a large CEFX engine, not the local switching variety.

That CEFX unit is a lease to Southern Ontario Railway (railink or Railamerica), and was on the dundas sub as part of a light power move. SOR is currently leasing 4 of those GP20D engines. They are 2006, 2014, 2015, and 2019. Currently 3 of them are working on the Hagersville sub, and 2014 i believe was moved back to hamilton.
